Presbyopia is a global problem associated with normal aging and inevitable human optical system. People over 40 have probably noticed some changes about their vision. The most important one is presbyopia — the normal, age-related loss of near focusing ability — which usually becomes a problem in our 40s, requiring new vision correction solution.

Presbyopia - Computer Vision Syndrom - Dioptric Correction - Presbyopia Test ![]() Presbyopia is a common phenomenon in all individuals from age 40. Presbyopia is a vision disorder that makes difficult to focus on near objects, to read or do close work. The usual reading distance is 30 to 40 cm, when presbyopia begins, the subject is first required to extend the arm to read, to search for better lighting, then always wear reading eyeglasses. Initially, presbyopia is manifested by a low vision to read small letters and when the light is insufficient (map, restaurant menu), the subject takes a step back to see the computer. The more the pupil is dilated the more presbyopia is felt; presbyopia often appears after a vacation when the light is lower (more dilated pupil) while playing in the sun is easy because of the constricted pupil. Presbyopia can cause eyestrain, headaches. Presbyopia progresses to 60 years and then stabilizes.
Mechanism Of Presbyopia:
Presbyopia is due to natural decline with age in ability to focus the crystalline lens when reading.
To see up close, the crystallin lens, clear lens inside the eye bulges rapidly under the action of the ciliary muscle inside the eye, increasing its refractive power to reproduce a clear image regardless of the distance : this is called the accommodation. The accommodation allows for the development on the same principle as an autofocus camera. The importance of accommodation varies with age. Inevitably, the aging crystalline lens loses its elasticity, the action of the ciliary muscle on the more rigid crystalline decreases, the power of accommodation decreases. The development of reading and near vision is no longer correct. The distance at which the eyes read with sharp increases.
Computer Vision Syndrom (CVS) Many studies regarding people working on computers shows that impaired vision is the most frequently reported health problem by computer-based workers: they are 70 to 75% reporting it. It is often referred to as Computer Vision Syndrom (CVS) or Artificial Vision Syndrom (AVS) and includes a set of symptoms of fatigue associated with computer use.
- Blurred vision.
- Fatigue and dry eyes. - Fatigue and general malaise. - Pain in the neck, shoulders and back. - Difficulty in focusing on a particular object - The discomfort is felt in the muscles of the neck and shoulders as well as in the wrists and forearms. THE SOLUTION for presbyopic emmetropic: Varionet! Our reading eyeglasses are dedicated to these syndroms and are specially designed for people between 40 and 70 working on the computer.
![]() Dioptric Powers Presbyopia stood in diopters, fairly standard in all individuals: +1.00 diopter from 40 to 45, +1.50 diopter from 45 to 50, +2.00 from 50 to 55, +2.50 from 55 to 60, then +3.00 over 60 years. It therefore corrects presbyopia using spherical convex lenses, which basically allow a correct near vision from 40 years (+1.00 Dioptric power and increases in a few steps to reach +3.00 from 60 years when the accommodation has disappeared).
Presbyopia Test Dioptric Range according to age is purely indicative. You can download and print our dedicated presbyopia test to get an accurate and individual dioptric power. |
